Hill Country Colors
Hill Country Colors is a new painting that is headed for the "Texascapes " Show at R.S. Hanna Gallery (Fredericksburg) in May. Chuck and I have a joint show each spring, and this year is no exception. Hill Country Colors is a studio piece that is based on a view on the Dogleg Ranch near Bandera, Texas. We were lucky enough to get a grand tour of the ranch, and we painted there until dusk on one fine autumn day. Beautiful views.
Soft Impressions is a plein air piece I painted last spring near Marble Falls. It was an overcast day, which enabled me to paint a larger piece. The light never changed. There was a lot of dead grass, but I didn't want to paint brown grass, so I opted for a peach color. I enjoyed playing around with the colors in this painting. It was accepted in the 2019 National Juried Exhibition of Plein Air Artists Colorado (PAAC). That show will be at Studio 8369 (1117 Grand Avenue) in Grand Lake Colorado -- June 1 - 28, 2019.
