This was painted during the epic week-long freeze in Texas in February 2021. It was extremely cold, and the birds were frantically trying to eat as much birdseed as possible. I painted this plein air, sitting in my great room in front of the fireplace. It was cold in the house as we were experiencing rolling blackouts.
